Back when I first applied for college, so many years ago, we wrote an application essay and mailed it in with my college application.  You had to make sure the application was in the mail a couple weeks before the closing date just to be sure that it arrived on time.

Fast forward 20 years.

I was recently helping my son create his application essay for college.  Well maybe I should say or writing is a loose term describing what we did, as he typed out an online essay to explain why he should be accepted into the college that he had applied for.  Though it was strange, I do applaud the school for the fact they are making environmentally friendly choice by reducing their reliance on paper for the registration process.

I wonder if my son will be writing the research papers that he will be assigned for his classes online as well.  It would be nice to see the thought centers of the world (such as universities) make environmentally friendly choices to inspire their students to do the same.
