When my friend told me about the cheap car insurance rate that he was getting, I was completely shocked. His car was a lot newer than my own and he had been in three accidents. I had a clean driving record and I was paying more than double to what he was paying.
I decided that I was going to ask my insurance provider about this and demand that I get cheap auto insurance as well. They basically told me that I was paying the lowest rate that they could charge and if I didn’t like it than I could go somewhere else.
That is exactly what I did. I went to my friend’s insurance company and got a great rate. I now also buy my classic car insurance through them and I am paying less to insure both of my cars than I previously had for one. I could not believe that they pushed my business out the door.
For the past few summers, I have taken a job at a local greenhouse. Not only does it let me get out of the house, but it allows me to learn how to take better care of the plants I have at home.
The greenhouse that I work at provides a number of training seminars over the growing season to the staff so that we are better prepared to answer the questions that our customers ask us. We have studied many subjects in the past including tree selection, lantana care, proper amounts of water to give plants.
But today, our training session covered the topics of traditional landscaping designs versus the new landscaping design ideas. We were presented with a number of real world examples in the presentation and we will be better equipped to give good advice when it comes to landscaping.
Well, my break is over… time to get back to work.
As I have been trying to make my way up the corporate ladder, there have been many tasks that I’ve been assigned to do for my superiors. I’ll admit that some of them have not been very pleasant whereas others have just made me feel like a gopher. Irrespective of my feelings on the matter, I know that by catering to my superiors that I am paving my way up the corporate ladder.
A good example of the things that I’ve had to do would be exactly what I’m doing today. You see, my boss asked me into his office early this morning with a list of errands for me to do. Unlike last week when I was filling out business forms, today my task was going to involve running errands.
I was asked to deliver some company registers to one of our clients in town as well as to take care of mediating a couple of the company resolutions that we are presiding over. These tasks are going to take up most of my day and will mean that I won’t be in the office for most of the day.
I am hoping that by being eager to please my superiors that my path up the corporate ladder will be quick and easy. I guess only time will tell.
