If you want to have a safe swimming pool season this year, just follow these tips to ensure proper pool safety.
Don’t leave your kids by themselves around or in your swimming pool. My baby cousin was found face down in our swimming pool almost 5 years ago. Luckily we found her in time, it was very frightening.
Take a CPR class. Everyone really should take one at least once in their lives. Keep up with the training in class you need to use any life saving techniques.
Install a fence around your above ground or in-ground swimming pool. make sure you check with your township for regulations before installing.
If you have a fence get a gate installed too. Be sure it’s a self-latching gate that is too high to reach for children and make sure it’s self-closing too.
Include a safety raft, a telephone and a shepherd’s hook around your swimming pool in case they need to be used.
“Swimmies” and arm floats are not regulated life saving devices, so don’t treat them as such.
If you want to teach your children to swim, wait until their 4th birthday. Children are not ready to learn how to swim until that age.
Always keep your children in arms length while swimming to ensure their safety.
