Isn’t it wonderful when you bring your first baby home? Suddenly your life has changed forever, and in ways you didn’t even think about before baby. You’re about to discover how much more difficult it is to get around now with a baby than it was before baby. You need a baby stroller.

There are definitely some practical problems getting around with a new baby. And you’ll find that it suddenly becomes a 10 minute job to get into the car. How do you get out and about conveniently?

You mum and dad probably had a pram for you. Probably a steel pram that weighed a ton and wasn’t really user friendly. Hard to get in the car, heavy and slow to push. You had a real struggle to get baby and pram both into the car.

But modern technology allows companies to make much more user friendly strollers that overcome these problems. They are usually made of plastic, so are lighter, are usually much easier to fold up and put away, and are easier to push with larger wheels.

And there’s many more benefits to a modern baby stroller too. They should have reclining seats, so baby can either sit up or lie down, and so is much more comfortable at any time. And they have adjustable footrests too, so as baby grows the footrest can be moved.

And they have storage space for mums gear or shopping, and they have brakes so that you can stop the stroller confidently.

And whilst talking of brakes, here’s a few safety issues. The brakes should be a foot operated brake that operates brakes on all wheels. The brakes should be good enough so that you can stop a fully loaded stroller on a good hill and the brakes will hold. But remember for safety never stop on a hill unless absolutely necessary. And even with the brakes on you should also stop across the hill rather than facing down.

And here’s some more safety tips. Make sure you get a fully adjustable and solid 5 point harness. And keep it done up tightly. There have, in the past, been accidents where baby has tried to stand up and fallen out.

And here’s 2 more safety tips to using baby strollers, because safety is so important. When you need to go upstairs with a baby in a stroller look for a lift. It’s difficult to take a baby in a stroller safely up stairs. If you absolutely must then you should take baby out. Safer, just don’t.

And lastly, don’t tie your dog lead to the stroller if you’re taking the dog. You could well find that suddenly the dog takes off, the stroller follows, and baby is gone.

Remember too, a stroller is extremely affordable. You can find very good new strollers if you know exactly where to find them for a very low price. It’s affordable comfort for baby and convenience for you.
