Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money on the internet, and if you really want to learn how to do it you need to check out Wordpress Goldmine by Mark Thompson. Wordpress Goldmine is a training manual and more for people who really want to learn how to make money with Wordpress Blogs. Mark came up with a fun contest lately - to see who could rank highest for a keyword phrase. The phrase we decided to battle over was Website Promotion Exercise, which is just what we were going to do.

When I first read about this contest, I thought “Forget it! I’ve got better things to do!” but then I started thinking maybe I could learn something, and get better at Google placement at the same time. Plus, I might be able to win this thing, and that’s a challenge I just can’t back away from.

There are lots of ways to promote - here’s what I’m going to do:

For starters, I’m going to write a short article, about 500 words or so. I’m going to post it on my www.onlinebusinessbuffet.com website. I’m going to try to use the term website promotion exercise a few times in the article, toward the beginning and again at the end.

Secondly, I’m going to write the article a certain way so I can use a software tool so I could create backlinks (or links on other people’s websites) back to my article. In order to do this, I need to write my article with at least 8 short paragraphs. The idea is, the more backlinks, the better your Google rank.

After that, I’m going to use the Unique Article Wizard tool to create hundreds and hundreds of unique versions of my article that get distributed out all over the web. UAW is the best tool I’ve yet found for creating quality backlinks. Then, I’m going to use many different social bookmarking sites to create more good backlinks to my original article - plus, I might get ranked for my version on one of those sites, too.

Finally, I’ll use another great, cheap, easy to use tool - RSSBot - to submit my blog to lots of Feed Aggregators, which will get me - you guessed it - more backlinks!
