If you must attract huge discounts, then you must NOT forget certain things. I’ll share a good number of them here…

1. There is a unique type of savings account known as the Flexible Spending Account. It’s a type of savings account where you can save tax-free dollars for your health needs. Any money not used could be rolled over into the next year (still tax free). With this account you can actually have a reasonable amount to meet your health care needs.

2. Your co-pay can be more than your drug cost in few cases. Sometimes, it’s better for you to pay for a prescription without using your health insurance. Do whichever gives you bigger savings.

3. Keep up a healthy routine and you’ll attract cheaper rates over time. If you can stop eating junk food you will save over time. Removing fats, cholesterol and high carb from your diet will make it easier for you to keep up the ideal weight, live a healthier life and, as a consequence, attract more affordable rates.

Similarly, you will be healthier and so have to visit the doctor less if you routinely exercise up to thirty minutes every day.

4. Your health insurance plan may already offer you up to two free visits to a doctor for preventative health care check ups.

In case you want to know why this leads to cheaper rates, here it is…

Since ailments are discovered at their early stages by doing such check ups, they are more easily treated without much expense. It costs your insurer less to do this than to treat diseases when they’ll cost a lot more.

5. If you take alcoholic beverage your rates will be more than a similar profile that doesn’t. Alcoholics spend more on health insurance.

Drinking is the root cause of many health conditions and that is apart from the fact that it definitely will add to your risk to health insurance companies.

How much alcohol would be harmful to you as a person? I can’t advise you on that since I’m not specialised on such issues.

What I do know is that avoiding alcoholics completely is isn’t harmful to anyone. If you can’t stay away totally, drink responsibly if you want to reduce your risk.

But I am told it’s harder to drink in moderation than it is to stay away completely. You can get help if you really want to quit drinking.
