HAPPY EX-DIVIDEND SEASON!

The upcoming share dividend season in Australia has traders and investors licking their lips.

So many high yielding stocks are scheduled to pay their final dividends for the financial year. It will be a feeding frenzy, with so many stocks going ex-dividend within such a short time between August and September . This is especially so for dividend investors adjusting their portfolio of  high yield shares.

Look for Fully Franked shares with a short period to the payment date. This assists with keeping the cashflow positive.

Why not fade high yielding stocks that have disappointed at the latest earnings report on the ex-dividend date. This should be considered even if the share has briefly shown positive momentum into he ex-dividend date.  By doing this you can offset some of your long positions to reduce market risk. You definitely need some protection from current share market turbulence, and pairs trading high dividend stocks around the ex-dividend date is a good way to achieve this.
