Software that I Cannot Live Without

Posted By admin on September 11, 2008 @ 12:25 am

There are a number of software packages that I use on a daily basis that I just couldn’t live without.  In fact, as sad as it sounds, without these certain pieces of software, I just don’t know what I would do - I would be lost without them.

I depend heavily on Atomic Watch to monitor whether or not my website is having problems.  It is a website monitoring package that made a lot more sense to me than paying a monthly fee to do the same thing.  I have been using it for some time now, and it has been invaluable tool to ensure that my money making websites are always online.

I also depend on the convenience that AKeeper password manager gives me.  With the number of sites that I am a member on increases, it is getting harder and harder to remember all those passwords since I have been making sure that each site has a different one.

Needless to say, without these software tools, I wouldn’t be able to use my computer as effectively.

Fixing My Computer

Posted By admin on September 6, 2008 @ 7:59 pm

Computers usually work great until they have a problem - then they can become a real headache.  Unless you are some sort of computer guru, you will usually find these "little" problems can take up a lot of your time.

But there are some software products on the market that can help you keep your computer running smoothly.  Chances are you are familiar with some of them such as anti-virus software and you probably use them on a daily basis.

Once in awhile, my computer "catches" some adware and gets sick.  This usually happens when I go outside of the regular sites that I visit, and I’ll admit that it is my fault.  Actually, a couple of years ago I was in this exact situation and I was looking for a solution.

The solution came in the form of a software product names SpyHunter.  You see, I happened upon a SpyHunter review while looking for a way to fix my computer, and once I read about it, I knew that I had found the solution.

In fact, I still use it to this day.  For me, SpyHunter makes getting rid of adware very easy.

Left Out in the Car

I get so frustrated when my husband leaves me and the kids in the car, so he can run into the store to buy computer parts. He is always gone for at least a half hour and the kids end up getting antsy and cranky having to wait in the car. In fact, I pretty much refuse to let him stop while we are all out with him.

I understand that, with his passion for computer systems, being in the store is like taking a child to Toys R Us, but it is just something that he is going to have to do on his own from now on. I don’t think he even realizes how long he leaves us sitting out there and I have said that enough is enough.

He doesn’t want to take even just me in with him because I tend to rush him and he can’t enjoy the experience to its full extent. The last time I went in with him, I convinced him to buy me a mini PC so that I could take it with me when I went to scrapbooking events. I think he figures I am too expensive to take in there.

Safer Surfing Experience

One of the biggest things that I am concerned about as a parent is the safety of my personal information.  You see, I am not the only one that uses my computer, and since I cannot monitor what sites my kids visit every moment of every day, I wanted to find something that would protect my computer from cyber thieves.

While at the computer store today, I was looking at some Anonymizer software.  It looked pretty neat, but after talking to the computer salesperson, I found that what I was looking for was some sort of privacy software.

We looked at a number of products on the shelf, but I was told that ParetoLogic Privacy Controls was the best product on the market and I should try it out.

So, I have it installed on my computer now, and the installation was a breeze.  I guess it will remain to be seen how well it works, but I feel better now, knowing that I have taken some precautions to ensure my privacy while online.

Computer Spring Cleaning

Posted By admin on March 8, 2008 @ 6:09 pm

Each year in spring, most people take the time to do spring cleaning of their home.  Usually this involves cleaning the house and the yard in preparation for summer.

But, I like to the same for my computer.  You see, in the past, spring was the time that I used to wipe everything off of my computer and start fresh.  I figured that it was a good practice, as there really wouldn’t be any time during the summer for such things.  Though it was time consuming, it seemed to work very well.

This year, I decided to try something different since I happened to read some registry cleaner software reviews while browsing the Internet.  It looked like it would save me from having to re-install everything each year.

I downloaded both Regcure PC Optimizer and Registry Mechanic.  After running both software applications, my machine now works as fast as it did when I first installed Windows.  This will be the new way I get my spring computer cleaning done - quick and easy.
