Recognized the world over for its unique wrinkled coat and blue-black tongue, lets get to know the dog called the Shar Pei. Its also referred to by its other names, such as the sharkskin dog, the Chinese Shar Pei or Chinese Fighting Dog, because it was in China that it originated. The name Shar Pei can be roughly translated to sand paper skin, which takes into account its rough, prickly hide.
The Shar Pei are no doubt an ancient breed, because we can trace their ancestors to as far back as 2,000 years ago! The bluish tongue is unique to only one other breed, the chow-chow, and they are thought to be related. Because of the way it looks and its close link to the chow-chow, the Shar Pei has ties with the giant Mastiff breeds!
The Shar Pei have the distinctive hippopotamus head, are medium sized and squarish in profile, and wear a sad expression that seems almost irresistibly comical. They were used for a long time as general-purpose farm dogs in countrysides in China, for jobs like guarding stock, hunting, and protecting the family and home. It was raised for its cleverness, strength, and frowning expression (which the Chinese believed helped ward off evil spirits).
To help it in fighting, the wrinkly, loose folds of skin and harsh coat were bred into the Shar Pei, rendering it difficult for the opponent to grab and hold on to. Their coats dont need to be cut, as they do not have an undercoat, but regular brushing is recommended. Shar Pei gradually lose their wrinkles with age, which is why puppies have more skin folds than adults.
There are three coat varieties in this breed: the horse-coat, a brush-coat, and the uncommon bear-coat, which is not recognized by the American Kennel Club. The unusual horse-coat is rough, extremely prickly to the touch, while the brush-coat has longer fur and a smoother texture. Coat colors include all solid colors, as well as sables.
The loyal Shar Pei connects well with his family and is outstandingly devoted to his master. They are fearless, bright, playful, dominant and full of character. They are recognized by their melancholy expression, but they are surprisingly calm, self-reliant, loyal and friendly dogs.
The Shar Pei are naturally intelligent and require a firm resolve and consistency when it comes to training”a weak handler will be misconstrued as a member of the pack that they do not need to follow. They have a natural tendency to be obstinate, from their instinct as fighting dogs, but this is easily mended by socializing, exercising and training them early on. The Shar Pei have fulfilled many roles in their long and colorful history, including catching vermin, herding, and even tracking, but if you know how to love and care for these spunky little animals then it is quite certain they will make a perfect companion for you and your family.

If youre sitting on the fence about this subject, its high time you learned some facts about hypnotherapy that just might help you decide if its real or a scam.
Defining Hypnotherapy Hypnotherapy deals with the subconscious mind. This is the part of the mind that makes you breathe and keeps your heart beating. To understand what hypnotherapy is, its best to understand what it isnt. So what isnt hypnotherapy? Its not a means for someone to take control of your mind. Actually, hypnotherapy is when someone helps you to obtain control over your own mind.
What hypnotherapy does is make you relax and concentrate to overcome the fear, habit, etc. Hypnotherapy allows you to focus on just this one thing while staving off the 50 other things you may be thinking about.
An example of what hypnotherapy strives to do is to break a habit. A habit is defined as something done repetitively without thought (subconsciously). Hypnotherapy will help your mind focus on just that habit, where that habit resorted from and how to find a way to overcome that habit.
Understanding What Hypnotherapy Is Used For Hypnotherapy isnt a means for curing everything that is fearful or a habit in your life. Hypnotherapy is used to control the subconscious mind. Anything being controlled by the subconscious mind can be helped by hypnotherapy. How? Remember that hypnotherapy allows your body to relax so that your mind can understand your reactions and/or obsessions. From there, you can see how you can fix those issues within yourself and overcome the paralyzing fear or bad habit.
Discovering What Hypnotherapy Is Hypnotherapy is used to control people to do things they never thought they could before. This is a false statement. Hypnotherapy is used to help people overcome habits, fears or other subconscious ailments. This is a true statement.
Many people have been able to recover from various conditions with the help of a hypnotherapist, with far less sessions than if the person had gone to a psychologist and talked about any number of problems that could be the hidden culprit.
People who are more visual will be more susceptible to a hypnotic state. Why? The subconscious mind works with images so being visual is a stimulant to hypnotherapeutic assistance. This allows you to better see yourself overcoming your issues.
Using hypnotherapy as a means of overcoming fears, pain or other ailments of the subconscious mind can help you live your life more fully. You can overcome public speaking, flying, acting or you can be helped with arthritis pain or other pains. Some people undergo a hypnotic state to diminish pains for before, during and after surgery. A hypnotherapist isnt skilled in just one area of fear or cures but in many, if not all, areas of fear and cures.
If you want a mixture of stylishness and sturdiness, you’ve got great things coming with oak bedroom furniture. It’s great everywhere at home but oak in your bedroom could be more than you’d envision. When you drive from work at the end of the day looking for a zone in which to collect your senses, come home to your oak bed. Oak makes fine bedroom furniture because it breathes a distinct style and personality to match your own.
You won’t mind spending a bit more for oak in your bedroom. It is, after all, where you’ll be using up almost all of your time together with your family. This is all the more reason why you should invest in furniture that makes your bedroom worth a coming home to.
Even kids will be grateful for oak in their bedrooms. Sleep is predominantly important for them and you can’t argue with the fact that the quality of sleep they get is, in fact, crucial in their development. You’ll want to give your kids the best of everything because with them, all the little things do count. Teenagers also tend to spend a lot of time alone in their bedrooms getting to know themselves as part of their identity-forming rituals. In this often gauche stage in their lives, you’ll want to make them as relaxed as possible.
Aside from toughness, oak also exudes an exclusive air of class you won’t find with other types of furniture. It’s great for big families with children and seniors alike. When the kids get a bit rowdy and all over the place, oak will endure all that wear and tear for years. For the seniors who’ll just want to enjoy the family’s togetherness, they’ll look forward to retiring in their oak-furnished bedrooms and that wonderful sense of being home.
Oak furniture also blends completely with almost anything, so you don’t really have to worry about a mismatch. The colors stay for a long time and you won’t have to deal with color peeling off your furniture. Oak is rock solid wood so you may keep it polished while maintaining the edges’ irregularity.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve just built your home and started to decorate it or if you’re just trying to add in a few new touches. Both ways and more, having oak furniture is a good investment for the whole family. You can always settle for the cheaper types of furniture around. You might say they’re more practical, but remember that time is an essential component of anything practical. You may get something for less but if you’ll only be having to replace it in a short time, then it’s not practical at all. Practical means investing more on something for possibly a lifetime of keeping it. And that is what oak is all about.

Have You Ever tried planting fish under tomato plants for a real bonus in the way of fertilizer? It really works, but my first experience was disastrous, to say the least.
We took our small son fishing on the banks of the ol Missouri. On occasion we have caught fine pike, trout, catfish and other desirable fish on these family expeditions. However, the whole catch that afternoon amounted to four suckers and two large carp. The carp, caught by our four-year old, seemed like whales to him. How would you explain to such a small angler that his catch wasn’t worth taking home? Neither could we explain, so home they went where he pridefully showed them around the neighborhood.
Long before the boy was awake the next morning, I prepared to inter the fish by the garden fence. My elderly German neighbor, a gardener from way back, leaned across the gate. He advised me to hack them up and bury generous pieces in the bottom of holes dug for fine tomato plants he would give me. This I did.
We had fillets from the store for dinner that evening, which the little fellow claimed without question.
All went well for a couple of days. The weather warmed up, so the second evening I removed the newspaper shelters covering the tomato plants. I thought I could detect a bit of a fishy odor on the gentle breeze. Oh, welll
At early dawn I awoke with a start to the most unearthly snarling, spitting and general caterwauling I ever hope to hear. The noise would rise to a howling crescendo, then subside entirely only to rise again to new heights.
Creeping to the window, I looked out on a really pathetic scene. My lovely tomato plants had all but disappeared. The garden enclosure was taken over by cats. Big cats, little cats, fat cats, lean cats! All engaged in digging up fish, eating fish, or disputing in demoniac yowls over the ownership of a choice morsel.
I threw on my robe and ventured out just as my elderly neighbor inched the gate open a crack large enough to let his dog into my garden plot. Cats flew in all directions. In seconds the last one fairly sailed over the fence. He laughed so hard his tummy shook. Then he showed me how to plant a tomato.
Fish or no fish, he said, dig a hole at least the girth and depth of a water bucket. Place a handful of fertilizer (or a hunk of fish) at the bottom. Mound soil over it in a cone shape in the center of the hole nearly as high as the hole is deep. Set the plant on the cone and drape the roots in all directions. Hold it with one hand while you fill in the rest of the soil, firming it carefully until nearly ground level. Water it well and let the water soak away. Add more soil until there is only a slight depression around the plant. Cover the immediate area with grass clippings or other mulch and shelter the plant for a few days and if you’re in a vacation, make sure to now some vacation plant watering tips.
Buried to such a depth, the fish doesnt call all the cats in town. By the time the roots reach that far, the fish has decomposed to a ready form of nourishment.

This rich dark grain reddish-brown hardwood floor will last for decades ever under the heaviest of use. Then there is Red Oak to consider. It is another favorite with do-it-yourselves. This hardwood flooring is available in a variety of widths and costs less the Mahogany.
